Problem Solving

Stop, look, think, and try.

Problem solving activities that teach kids how to think

When a problem pops up, many kids freeze or wait for a grown-up to fix it. Our problem solving activities give them a simple, repeatable method instead: stop, look, think and try.

Children practice on low-pressure woodland stories first, gathering clues and listing ideas, then use the same steps on real problems at home. Along the way, your child builds critical thinking, flexibility, patience and confidence, and there's no “right answer”: the process is the purpose.

The Woodland Fix-It Cases are where the detective work begins, and they pair beautifully with the Woodland Inventors' Workshop.
