Lumroot was created by a team of educators who kept noticing the same gap. So much of what is built for children is built to standardize them: to sort them, to measure them, to fit them into boxes. Very little is built to meet a child exactly where they are and tend the light already in them.

We have seen, across our many years inside classrooms, homes, and child care settings, the brilliant and singular lights of so many children. Every one unique, and every one worth tending. Yet in a fast-paced, standardized system, a child is so easily overlooked. A particular way of learning gets put in a box. A child's natural gifts are dimmed in the name of fitting in, when they might have been nurtured instead.

Our experience runs wide on purpose. Between us we have taught within specific methodologies, cared for children in our own homes and others', built homeschool programs from the ground up, and worked across countries, cultures, and ways of educating. Different as those worlds are, they have shown one unified truth: a child flourishes when their inner light is supported.

Imagine if each of us, as children, had been seen for exactly the luminous person we already were. If our gifts had been nurtured rather than stripped away to match a mold. That is the childhood we hope to nurture, for as many little lights, and as many parents, as we can.
